How to Easily Measure Your Ring Size at Home: Tips from Thompson Jewelry
Looking for a new ring but not sure what size you are? We have some simple ways to help you measure your ring size yourself, along with expert tips for the most accurate results.
1.Measure from an Existing Ring 💍
If you have a ring that fits you well, you can use it to easily find your size.
- Use a ruler or tape measure to find the “inside diameter” of the ring in millimeters (mm).
- Then, compare the measurement to our standard ring size chart to find your corresponding size.
📝 Tip: Use a ruler with mm markings and ensure the ring lies flat on the ruler for the most accurate measurement.
2.Measure with Paper or a String 📏 (If you don’t have a ring)

If you don’t have a ring to reference, you can use a strip of paper or a small string to measure your finger. Note that this method may not be 100% accurate.
- Cut a strip of paper about 5 mm wide or a piece of string .
- Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you want to wear the ring on. Don’t wrap it too tight or too loose.
- Mark the point where the paper or string overlaps.
- Unwrap it and measure the length from the starting point to the mark (in mm).
- Subtract 2 mm from the measurement of your ring circumference. This value is your EU ring size according to the ring chart below.
📌 Note: 1 centimeter (cm) = 10 millimeters (mm).
- For example, if you measure your finger circumference to be 5.2 cm = 52 mm, subtracting 2 mm gives you the EU ring size of 50 mm according to the chart.

📌 Important Ring Sizing Tips
- Measure your finger in the afternoon or evening, as this is when your fingers are at their normal size.
- Avoid measuring in the morning or in cold weather, as your fingers may be slightly shrunken, leading to an inaccurate size.
We recommend measuring at least 2-3 times at different times of the day for the most accurate result.
